For the past 10 years online tutoring has become more and more popular but never has it been so sought out as these past couple of years during COVID.
This month we will be discussing the benefits of one-on-one online tutoring. I hope that the information shared will be useful and insightful to you, but if you find you have more questions don’t hesitate to reach out!
WHAT IS ONLINE TUTORING?
Online tutoring also known as e-learning is the process of tutoring in an online or virtual environment in which teachers and learners participate from separate physical locations.
The only requirement is that both teacher and tutor have access to a computer with sufficient bandwidth.
One-on-one online tutoring has 5 main benefits. These benefits are time, location, resources, great tutors, personalized.
HOW DOES ONLINE TUTORING WORK?
Online tutoring can look very different depending on the teacher, organization, and student. Generally speaking, it involves some sort of video chat such as Zoom or Skype so that the teacher and student can see one another and show each other their work/lesson. Often times there is also a shared screen so that the teacher can instruct the student visually using an onscreen whiteboard which both the teacher and student can view and write on.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ONE-ON-ONE ONLINE TUTORING?
Online tutoring has a number of benefits but the top five are listed below.
No matter where you are as long as you have a computer and internet, you can take part in a tutoring session. Students are so busy these days that it is nice knowing that they can get the academic support they need no matter if they’re at their sister’s basketball game, the library or while traveling!
With one-on-one online tutoring the teacher has the ability to strengthen their student’s confidence by helping the student see their growth and potential all while strengthening their skills. Confidence building is a huge aspect of tutoring as many students begin tutoring with low academic confidence which can have a detremintal effect on their ability to learn. One-on-one tutoring allows a teacher to focus on strengthening their confidence by praising them and helping them see what they are capable of learning.
- THE PACE
One-on-one online tutoring allows the tutor to work at the pace of the student. It’s merely impossible to do that in a classroom of 25-30 students, but when working one-one-one the tutor can go quicker through concepts that student has mastered and then slow down where they need so spend more time.
- LEARNING STYLE
Each child learns differently and with one-on-one online tutoring, the tutor can teach to how the student learns best whether that be visuals, games, creating lists, or making real-world connections.
When taking part in one-on-one online tutoring, the student is able to accelerate their learning due to the personalized nature of the lessons. Most students are able to learn at a faster pace in one-on-one online learning than they would within a classroom. This is beneficial for students who either are struggling to catch up in school or stay caught up in school.
- TOP-NOTCH TUTORS
A benefit of one-on-one online tutoring is that you are able to get connected to a tutor that is just right for you! You do not have the geographical limitations that you would for in-person tutoring so you are able to get matched with a tutor that is well-qualified in either your subject area, specific curriculum, or learning style.
