I love recommendations. I love to give recommendations and receive them. That being said, I imagine you’ll find a lot of recommendations on this blog as time goes on. The first one is a book recommendation.

I love a good book series that keeps kids interested and makes them want to read more. Who doesn’t, right? That’s why I wanted to recommend this book series.

For the past year, my family has been reading and listening to “The Land of Stories” by Chris Colfer. My kids are 7 and 9 years old and we have been reading these books as read alouds along with audiobooks. The age range for these books are around 8-12 years.

There are six books in this series that build upon one another and always leave you wondering. Instead of trying to summarize the book series, I will let www.bookbrowse.com do it as they did a better job summing them up than I ever could.

“Alex and Conner Bailey’s world is about to change, in this fast-paced adventure that uniquely combines our modern-day world with the enchanting realm of classic fairy tales.

The Land of Stories tells the tale of twins Alex and Conner. Through the mysterious powers of a cherished book of stories, they leave their world behind and find themselves in a foreign land full of wonder and magic where they come face-to-face with the fairy tale characters they grew up reading about.

But after a series of encounters with witches, wolves, goblins, and trolls alike, getting back home is going to be harder than they thought.”

And if your kids end up falling in love with the series, Colfer has now written a prequel series to “The Land of Stories” called “A Tale of Magic.” We are currently on book two of “The Tales of Magic” and it’s been so fun making connections to events that had happened in “The Land of Stories.”

“A Tale of Magic” by Chris Colfer

Anyway, if you’re looking for a book to help your kids want to read (or listen to you read), I HIGHLY recommend starting “The Land of Stories” book series!

Side note: If you were a fan of the show Glee, the author of this series, Chris Cofler, played Kurt. Who knew he was not only a talented actor, but also a writer with an amazing imagination!
